Hackney Farm in collaboration with Frizzante

In July 2018 we hosted a Sicilian inspired supperclub at Hackney City Farm within the Farms barns. A collaboration with Frizzante, who run the farm café we used East London supplies to host an evening which married British and Sicilian ingredients with 10% of the proceeds from the evening going back to the farm itself, a registered charity, to help the local community, care for the animals and garden.

Feeding Londoners a true sample of Sicilian food the menu was heavily plant-based and vegetarian-friendly to reflect inland Sicily where cattle and seafood are scarce. We created the Strazzanti menu serving classics such as arancini with spinach & mozzarella as well as anchovies with butter and bread.

Our London Vodka created the welcome cocktail using British elferflower from the Farm & Sicilian lemons. The antipasti and pasta were sharing platters including fresh ricotta, Sicilian pistachio and fresh oregano on E5 Bakehouse sourdough and fresh pasta with aubergines and salted ricotta. For dessert we set up a whole dessert station featuring our pastries and cakes as well as a coffee Granite using E5 Roasthouse coffee.

The wine was provided by Passione Vino, an Independent Italian wine shop and bar in Shoreditch who work with small artisan producers, bringing a little bit of Italy via east London. And the cafe was decked out with an abundance of flowers, candles and foliage for the evening.
